How to Build a DT50 QR Scanner
Follow these steps to assemble a DT50 QR scanner, including casing installation and finishing. Troubleshooting steps for formatting a scanner are also included.
Tools & Materials Required
- Phillips head screwdriver
- 4 × Countersunk screws (3.0 × 12 mm)
- Formatted DT50 scanner (marked with a tick on the box)
- Scanner casing (top and bottom pieces)
All tools must be returned to their designated storage location once the build is complete.
Step-by-Step: Assembly
Prepare the Scanner
Locate a formatted scanner (identified by a tick mark on the box). Unbox the scanner and leave the glass protector film in place.Insert into Casing
Locate the scanner casing (top and bottom sections). Fit the scanner snugly into the casing, ensuring:- The power cord is correctly positioned
- The unit sits securely within the housing
Remove the Rubber Feet
Remove the rubber feet from the scanner. Keep these safe — they will be reattached later.Attach the Base Plate
Align the base plate with the screw indents facing outward so the screw heads sit flush. Insert the 4 × countersunk screws (3.0 × 12 mm) and secure tightly using the Phillips screwdriver.Replace the Rubber Feet
Stick the rubber feet over the screw heads. This acts as a cosmetic cover and provides grip.
The DT50 scanner is now fully assembled and ready for deployment.
Troubleshooting: Formatting a Scanner
If a pre-formatted scanner is not available, you can format one manually.
Requirements
- Scanner
- Computer with internet access
- Power source
Formatting steps
Plug the scanner into a power source.
On your computer, open the DT50 scanner setup document (internal support guide).
Using the scanner, scan each QR code in the document in order, from top to bottom.
Important:
- Ensure only one QR code is visible on screen at a time.
- Resize your browser window if necessary to avoid scanning the wrong code.
- The scanner will beep after each successful scan.
Once all QR codes have been scanned successfully, the scanner is formatted and ready to assemble.
Tips & Best Practices
Use formatted scanners where available: Pre-formatted scanners save time and reduce setup errors.
Keep tools tidy: Return all tools to storage after each build to avoid losing parts.
