How to Configure Online Order Printing to Different Printers (Clover)

Configure your Clover POS so specific items from online orders print to different printers — for example, drinks to the bar printer and food to the kitchen printer. This is done using Clover printer labels, which route items to the appropriate printer when an order is received.

Before You Begin

  • You must have multiple printers connected to your Clover device.
  • Have a plan for which categories of items should print to which printer.

Step-by-Step: Configure Label-Based Printing

  1. Open the Printers App
    Open the Printers app on your Clover device and confirm that all required printers are connected.

  2. Assign Labels to Printers
    Assign Clover labels to each printer (for example, Bar, Kitchen, etc.).

  3. Assign Labels to Products
    Assign the same labels to the relevant inventory products so each product is linked to the correct printer.

  4. Open the Order Ahead App
    Open the Order Ahead app on the Clover device.

  5. Open Preferences
    Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Preferences.

  6. Enable Print by Label
    Enable Print by Clover Label so items are routed to the printer associated with their label.

Optional: If you also want the full order receipt with customer details to print, enable Send Orders to Printer in the same preferences menu.


What Happens After You Save

Items ordered online automatically print on the relevant printer based on their assigned label. The bar gets drinks, the kitchen gets food, and so on.

  • Audit labels regularly: When new products are added, ensure they get the right label.

  • Test the routing: Place a test order with mixed items to confirm tickets land at the right printers.
