How to Enable Fraud Prevention Tools on Clover eCommerce
Protect yourself, your customers, and your business by enabling the fraud prevention tools available through Clover eCommerce. These tools help reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions on your online channel.
Before You Begin
- You must be logged into the Clover Dashboard with admin access.
- Your Clover account must have eCommerce enabled.
Step-by-Step: Open Fraud Tools
Log In to Clover
Sign in to the Clover Dashboard.Open Account & Setup
Click Account & Setup, then in the eCommerce section, select Fraud Tools.
Configure Address Verification System (AVS)
Edit AVS Settings
Next to Address Verification System (AVS), click Edit.Enable AVS Checks
Enable the following options:- Postal Code Does Not Match (when provided)
- Postal Code Not Verified
- Postal Code Not Provided
- AVS System Error
- Card Holder Name is not Provided
- Card Holder Name does not match
- Card Holder Name cannot be verified
Save AVS Settings
Click Save.
Configure Card Verification Value (CVV)
Edit CVV Settings
Next to Card Verification Value (CVV), click Edit.Enable CVV Checks
Enable the following options:- CVV does not match (when provided)
- CVV cannot be verified (when provided)
Save CVV Settings
Click Save.

Fraud protection settings are enabled, helping reduce the risk of unauthorised transactions on your eCommerce channel.

Balance security and conversion: Enabling stricter checks may increase declined transactions, but improves overall payment security — tune settings based on your fraud risk.
Monitor declines: Review declined transactions periodically to make sure legitimate customers aren't being blocked unnecessarily.
