How to Create a New Cashless Customer at the Clover POS

Set up a new cashless customer account directly at the Clover POS so customers can start using their card or band for transactions straight away.

Before You Begin

  • You must have access to the Cashless app on your Clover POS device.
  • The customer must be present with their card or band.

Step-by-Step: Create a Cashless Account

  1. Open the Cashless App
    From the Clover home screen, open the Cashless app.

  2. Scan or Tap the Card
    Ask the customer to:

    • Scan the QR code, or
    • Tap their card on the HID/card reader

    The system will detect that the card is not yet linked to an account.

  3. Create a New Account
    Enter the customer's name and tap Create a New Card.

  4. Confirm Account Creation
    The account is created and a screen displays showing a zero balance.

  5. Complete Registration (Recommended)
    For full account access:

    • Tap the back button
    • Scan or tap the card again
    • Enter the customer's email address and password

    Note: Registration can be skipped, but completing it is recommended for full account access and recovery.


What Happens After Setup

The Cashless account is set up and ready to use. The customer can now top up their balance and use the card or band for transactions at any of your locations.


Tips & Best Practices

  • Encourage registration: Customers who register with email and password can recover their accounts if they lose a card.

  • Verify name spelling: Take a moment to confirm spelling on the customer's name — corrections later require staff time.
