How to Divide a Gift Card Balance Across Multiple Cards

If a customer wants to split their existing balance between their current card and a new one, this is the best way to achieve that result — whether you're splitting to a digital or physical gift card.

Before You Begin

  • Access the Merchant Web App at merchant.facilipay.io.
  • Log in using your Facilipay Dashboard credentials.
  • Confirm how much balance the customer wants to transfer before starting.

Option 1: Split to a Digital Gift Card

  1. Reduce the Original Card Balance

    1. Locate the customer's existing gift card
    2. Redeem or deduct the amount you want to transfer

    Note: This leaves the remaining balance on the original card.

  2. Create a New Digital Gift Card

    1. Collect the recipient's Name and Email address
    2. Create a new digital gift card
    3. Add the transferred amount to the new card

Result: The balance is split between the original card (remaining balance) and the new digital gift card.

Option 2: Split to a Physical Gift Card

  1. Reduce the Original Card Balance

    1. Locate the existing gift card
    2. Redeem or deduct the amount to transfer

  2. Load a New Physical Card

    1. Take a new physical gift card
    2. Add the transferred balance to the card

Result: The balance is split between the original card and the new physical gift card.

  • Confirm the transfer amount: Always verify the amount with the customer before processing.

  • Use correct recipient details: For digital cards, ensure the recipient's name and email are accurate.

  • Document the split: Keep a record of which card received which balance for reference.
