How to Divide a Gift Card Balance Across Multiple Cards
If a customer wants to split their existing balance between their current card and a new one, this is the best way to achieve that result — whether you're splitting to a digital or physical gift card.
Before You Begin
- Access the Merchant Web App at
merchant.facilipay.io. - Log in using your Facilipay Dashboard credentials.
- Confirm how much balance the customer wants to transfer before starting.
Option 1: Split to a Digital Gift Card
Reduce the Original Card Balance
- Locate the customer's existing gift card
- Redeem or deduct the amount you want to transfer
Note: This leaves the remaining balance on the original card.
Create a New Digital Gift Card
- Collect the recipient's Name and Email address
- Create a new digital gift card
- Add the transferred amount to the new card
Result: The balance is split between the original card (remaining balance) and the new digital gift card.
Option 2: Split to a Physical Gift Card
Reduce the Original Card Balance
- Locate the existing gift card
- Redeem or deduct the amount to transfer
Load a New Physical Card
- Take a new physical gift card
- Add the transferred balance to the card
Result: The balance is split between the original card and the new physical gift card.

Confirm the transfer amount: Always verify the amount with the customer before processing.
Use correct recipient details: For digital cards, ensure the recipient's name and email are accurate.
Document the split: Keep a record of which card received which balance for reference.
