How to Redeem a Gift Card on a PAX Device (Facilipay)

Learn how to redeem a customer’s gift card balance using the Facilipay Gift Cards app on your PAX terminal. This lets you deduct funds from a gift card during a sale or transaction.

Before You Begin

✔ Ensure the Facilipay Gift Cards app is installed and active on your PAX device.
✔ Have the customer’s gift card ready — either as a physical card with a QR code or with the card number available.
✔ The PAX device must be connected to the network to communicate with Facilipay systems.

Step-by-Step: Redeem a Gift Card

1. Open the Gift Cards App

On the home screen of your PAX device, tap the Facilipay Gift Cards app.

2. Select the Gift Card Option

From the app’s menu, tap Gift to begin the redemption process.

3. Scan or Enter the Gift Card

You’ll be prompted to either:

  • Scan the gift card’s QR code using the PAX camera, or

  • Enter the card number manually if the QR code isn’t available.

4. Enter Redeem Amount

Once the card information is read:

  1. You’ll see the gift card’s current balance.

  2. Enter the amount the customer wants to redeem from the card.

5. Complete the Redemption

Confirm the amount and proceed. The PAX device will process the redemption and deduct the specified amount from the card balance.

After processing:

  • The redemption will be applied to the gift card.

  • You can print or display a confirmation receipt if needed.

  • Scan for Speed: Scanning the QR code is faster and reduces errors compared with manual entry.

  • Confirm Balance: Always confirm the customer’s available balance before redeeming.

  • Staff Training: Train staff to use the scanner icon and manual entry fields properly.

What Happens Next

Once the redemption is complete:

  • The customer’s gift card balance is updated in real time.

  • The redeemed amount will be reflected in your PAX transaction record.
