Generate a Shift Report on Oracle MICROS Simphony to view sales and tender totals for a specific shift, useful for cash-up and shift handover.
Before You Begin
- You must have manager-level access on the Simphony workstation, or access to the Simphony EMC (Enterprise Management Console).
- Know which shift (or employee) you want to report on before you start.
- Confirm all checks for the shift being reported on have been closed.
Step-by-Step: Run the Shift Report
- Open the Manager Menu On the Simphony workstation, log in with a manager-level ID and open the Manager Procedures menu.
- Open Reports From the Manager Procedures menu, select Reports.
- Select Shift Report Locate and select Shift Report from the list of available reports.
- Choose the Shift Select the shift you want to report on, either by shift number, employee, or time range, depending on how shifts are configured at your site.
- Review the Default View The report displays a breakdown of sales, discounts, voids, and tender totals (cash, credit/debit, gift card, and other accepted tenders) for the selected shift.
- Adjust the Reporting Period (Optional) If the shift boundaries need adjusting, tap the time field and set the specific start and end times for the report.
- Print the Report Once the report is generated, select Print if you want a physical copy for cash-up or handover.
Tips & Best Practices
- Run it at shift change: A Shift Report is most useful when run immediately at the end of a shift, before the next employee clocks in.
- Match against the drawer count: Compare the cash total on the report against the physical cash drawer count to catch discrepancies early.
- Keep a copy for handover: Printing or saving the report gives the incoming manager a clear record of the previous shift's totals.
