Order & Collect: Self Checkout Mode

Order & Collect is the default mode of the Self Checkout app on a Clover device, enabling fully self-service ordering. Customers can browse items, place orders, and complete payment without any staff assistance.

Overview

When Order & Collect mode is active, your Clover device runs as a customer-facing kiosk. The app launches to a branded welcome screen and guides the customer through the entire ordering and payment journey on their own.

  • If no image is provided, a default display image is used.

Customers tap "Let's Go" on the welcome screen to begin ordering.

The Customer Ordering Journey

From the welcome screen, customers move through four clear stages:

  1. Browse Categories and Items
    Customers see your menu structured as follows:

    • Categories listed on the left-hand side
    • Items displayed within the selected category

    Item availability and time-based restrictions are controlled from the Facilipay Business Dashboard. Any item modifiers (size, add-ons, customisations) will display during item selection.

  2. Review the Order
    Once items are selected, the customer can:

    • Review their full order summary
    • Edit or remove items if required
    • Proceed to checkout when ready

  3. Complete Payment
    Customers can pay using:

    • Card payment
    • Facilipay account balance

  4. Receive Order Confirmation
    After successful payment, the order is confirmed on screen and sent through to your kitchen or prep area for fulfilment.

What You Can Configure

  • Welcome screen image — Add a branded image on request, or use the default display image.

  • Item availability — Control which items appear and when they are available, all from the Facilipay Business Dashboard.

  • Modifiers — Customisation options display during the customer's item selection.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Best suited for hot food and prep-on-demand: Order & Collect works well for cafes, takeaways, and quick-service venues where staff prepare an order after the customer pays.

  • Keep menus simple: Limit your kiosk menu to the most popular items to reduce decision time and keep the queue moving.

  • Prompt collection: Display order numbers clearly on a screen or call them out so customers know when their order is ready.
