How to Process a Gift Card Refund

Gift card transactions can be refunded directly through the Register app by accessing the original order and selecting the appropriate payment type for refund. The funds return to the original gift card balance.

Before You Begin

  • You must have access to your POS device with the Register app.
  • Locate the original transaction reference before starting.

Step-by-Step: Refund to Gift Card

  1. Open Orders
    On your POS device, open the Register app and select Orders.

  2. Locate the Transaction
    Find and select the transaction you wish to refund. Once opened, select Exchange / Refund.

  3. Select Refund Payment
    Tap Refund Payment. You'll see a breakdown of the payment methods used in the original transaction.

  4. Select the Gift Card Payment
    From the list of payment types, select Gift Card by Facilipay. This ensures the refund is processed back to the original gift card.

  5. Confirm Refund
    Review the transaction details carefully. When ready, select Refund. When prompted for the refund method, choose Gift Card by Facilipay.


What Happens After You Refund

The gift card transaction is refunded, and the funds return to the original gift card balance.

  • Verify the original payment: Make sure you're refunding to the correct payment method.

  • Confirm with the customer: Tell the customer the funds have been returned to their gift card.
