How to Program a Zebra Scanner for EAN-13 and UPC-A Codes
Zebra scanners must be configured to read the correct barcode formats for compatibility with the Facilipay Self Checkout app. UPC-A is standard in the US, while EAN-13 is common in the EU and other regions. This guide enables both formats.
Before You Begin
- You must have a Zebra scanner connected to your kiosk.
- You'll need access to the configuration barcodes (provided in the Zebra programming manual).
Step-by-Step: Configure the Zebra Scanner
Restore Scanner Defaults
Using the Zebra scanner, scan the Restore Defaults barcode. The scanner resets to its factory configuration.Disable All Code Types
Scan the Disable All Code Types barcode. The scanner beeps to confirm the setting has been applied.Enable EAN-13
Scan the Enable EAN-13 barcode. The scanner beeps to confirm successful activation.Enable UPC-A
Scan the Enable UPC-A barcode. The scanner beeps to confirm successful activation.Remove Preamble / Extra Data
Scan the No Preamble barcode. This ensures only the product barcode number is transmitted when scanning, without additional characters.Test the Scanner
Open the Facilipay Self Checkout app and scan a product barcode. The item should be recognised correctly.
