How to Redeem a Gift Card on Clover POS (Register)

Accept the balances from gift cards your business has sold using the Clover Register app. This guide walks through redeeming a customer's gift card balance against an order.

Before You Begin

  • You must have access to your Clover POS with the Register and Gift Cards by Facilipay apps installed.
  • Have the customer's gift card ready to scan.

Step-by-Step: Redeem a Gift Card

  1. Create the Order
    Open the Register app from the Clover home screen. Add items to the order as normal.

  2. Go to Payment
    Once all items are added, tap Pay. This takes you to the payment screen.

  3. Select Gift Card Payment
    Under the Other section, tap Gift Card by Facilipay.

  4. Enter or Scan the Card
    Tap QR Scan to scan the customer's gift card QR code, OR enter the gift card number manually in the field provided. Tap Confirm.

  5. Redeem the Balance
    Review the customer account details shown:

    • Current gift card balance
    • Order total

    Tap Redeem to apply the gift card balance to the transaction.

  6. Complete the Transaction
    You'll be automatically returned to the Register app. A successful payment confirmation displays. Print a receipt if required.


What Happens After You Save

The payment is completed using the customer's Facilipay Gift Card. Their balance is reduced by the redemption amount.


Tips & Best Practices

  • Confirm balance with customer: Show them the breakdown before tapping Redeem.

  • Handle partial redemptions: If the gift card balance is less than the total, take additional payment via another tender.
