Scanning a QR Code on Clover

Scanning a QR code on your Clover point-of-sale (POS) is the fastest and simplest way to recognise a customer’s account in the Facilipay ecosystem. This method is commonly used when redeeming reward points, identifying loyalty accounts, or linking customer profiles during a transaction.

Before You Scan

To ensure successful QR code scanning on your Clover device:

  • Clear Line of Sight: Make sure there are no obstructions between the QR code and the Clover camera.

  • Good Lighting: Ensure sufficient lighting at the till. The built-in camera on Clover follows standard camera behavior and may not scan well in low light.

  • Network Connectivity: Confirm your Clover device is connected to the network so it can retrieve and display customer details after scanning.

How to Scan a QR Code

  1. Open the Relevant Facilipay App on Clover
Launch the Facilipay app (such as Loyalty or Gift Cards) on your Clover POS where the QR scan option is available.

  2. Present the QR Code to the Clover Camera
Hold the customer’s QR code — either on their phone screen or printed on a physical card — in front of the built-in camera.

  3. Align and Scan

    • Position the QR code in the camera’s line of sight.

    • Tilt or adjust the card if needed until the system recognises it.
Once scanned, the customer’s details should appear instantly on the Clover screen.

What Happens After Scanning

After the QR code is recognised:

  • The customer’s account information will automatically populate in the Facilipay app.

  • You can proceed with loyalty points, gift card transactions, or other linked actions depending on the module you are using.

Alternatives & Helpful Tips

  • External QR Scanner: If your Clover’s built-in camera doesn’t perform well due to lighting or angle issues, you can connect a USB QR scanner to your Clover device as an alternative.

  • Consistent Placement: Encourage customers to hold their QR codes steady and centred in front of the camera for faster recognition.

Troubleshooting

If the QR code does not scan:

  • Verify that lighting at the POS is sufficient.

  • Ensure there are no physical obstructions or reflections blocking the QR code.

  • Check network connectivity so customer data can load after scanning.

  • Consider using a dedicated USB scanner for faster scanning.
