How to Set Up the Contactless & QR Code Scanner

The Facilipay Contactless & QR Code Scanner allows staff to scan customer QR codes directly from a Clover device. This guide walks through how to connect, configure, and test the scanner.

Before You Begin

  • You must have the Facilipay USB scanner ready.
  • Your Clover device must be powered on and accessible.

Step-by-Step: Connect and Configure

  1. Connect the Scanner to the Clover Device
    Connect the USB scanner to your Clover device. Depending on your Clover model, the USB port will be located:

    • At the bottom of the printer, or
    • In the connection hub attached to the device

    Once connected, the scanner should automatically power on.

    Important — Clover Station V1: If using a Clover Station V1, a prompt will appear when the scanner is connected. Select "This is not a printer". This ensures the device functions correctly and prevents the on-screen keyboard from being disabled.

  2. Test the Scanner
    Open one of the Facilipay apps on the Clover device. Tap QR Scan and scan a QR code from:

    • A physical gift card
    • The Facilipay mobile app
    • An Apple Watch

    The Clover device should automatically recognise the scan and retrieve the associated customer account.


Troubleshooting

If the scanner does not register the QR code:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable.
  2. Reconnect the scanner to the Clover device.

If the issue persists, reset the scanner by scanning the configuration QR codes in the following order:

  • Enter/End
  • Set Suffix
  • Set All
  • Enter
  • Enter/End

Scan each code in sequence to complete the reset.


Tips & Best Practices

  • Keep the cable secure: A loose USB cable is the most common cause of scanner issues — ensure it's firmly connected.

  • Position for ergonomics: Place the scanner within easy reach for staff so it can be used naturally during transactions.
