Resolving Stack Error Messages on Clover POS
Certain stack error messages may appear when opening the Facilipay app on Clover POS. These errors typically indicate an account configuration issue that must be resolved within the Facilipay Dashboard.
What These Errors Mean
When opening the Facilipay app on Clover:
- First-time users will be prompted to create an account.
- Existing users will normally be signed in automatically.
If an error appears instead, review the relevant message below and apply the matching resolution.
Error: No Payment Method Added
{"message":"Please log into the Dashboard and add a payment method to your account", "stack":"Merchant has no payment method added"}
Cause: No payment method is linked to the Facilipay account. This may mean:
- No payment card is linked
- No Direct Debit mandate is set up
Resolution: Log into the Facilipay Dashboard and add a valid payment method to the account. Once added, reopen the app on Clover.
Error: MID Already Registered
{"message":"This MID is already registered to another owner. For security, please log into the dashboard and create owneremailaddress@domain.com as an employee and try again", "stack":"Not a valid Franchise member"}
Cause: The owner email address associated with the Clover device is already registered under another account. The email address displayed in the error message must be recognised within the Facilipay system.
Resolution: From the Facilipay Dashboard, create the specified email address as an Employee on the account. Once the employee profile is created, reopen the app on Clover.
What Happens After Resolution
The Clover device successfully connects to the Facilipay account once the required configuration changes are made. Transactions can then be processed as normal.
Tips & Best Practices
Read the message carefully: The error JSON usually points directly at the cause — either a missing payment method or an unrecognised email.
Capture a screenshot: If the error doesn't match either case here, take a screenshot before contacting support — this speeds up resolution.
