Understanding Dynamic Currency Conversion in OPERA Cloud
Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) lets international guests settle their bill in their home currency, offered through your Payment Partner.
Before You Begin
- DCC is a service provided via your Payment Partner — it isn't configured directly within OPERA.
What You Need to Know
- What it does: DCC allows international guests to settle their bill in their home currency rather than the property's local currency.
- When it's offered: When a payment is being processed, the DCC offer is presented on the payment device itself.
- How it updates OPERA: Once the guest approves the DCC offer, the transaction details are updated back into OPERA automatically.
- Where to get training: Payment Partners provide training on DCC during implementation and can answer property-specific questions about the service.
Tips & Best Practices
- DCC decisions sit with the guest: The guest chooses whether to accept the DCC offer on the payment device — staff don't need to manage this step manually.
- Confirm support during setup: Not all Payment Partners or terminals support DCC, so confirm this is enabled if your property serves a high volume of international guests.
